On October 25th, Bookshelf VI took place, and two of my artist's books were on display. These were based on a previous assignment.

mycorrhiza

Attached text:"This little book stems from an assignment from the platform het-onderste-boven for two organizations. I saw an important commonality in the social fabric necessary to achieve something. An association with a phenomenon in the surrounding nature came to mind, where we do not often look and where there is still much to be discovered. We do see the outcome in the form of a plant. Underground, a plant collaborates with fungi through its roots; this is called mycorrhiza. This collaboration leads to a healthy growing plant. A lot of work is done underground to ensure the delicate beginning above ground and the subsequent development.

The work is in a carousel form and made from leftover passe-partout cardboard, silk thread, and sewing thread. The cardboard is laser-cut and laser-engraved. Each opened page gives a different view of the flow within the work.
