Ina Fekken - work in paper
Art on the cutting edge...
large paintings
In 1992 I graduated from the Minerva Academy in Groningen, as an autonomous visual artist.
Prior to this study, I completed the specialization environmental science at the Hogere Landbouwschool. This has been decisive for the underlying theme in my work. The inescapable influence that humans have on nature/environment is my central motive.
After the art academy, when traveling in India, the bizarre combinations of all kinds of colours, motifs and rhythms made a big impression.
It proved to be a catalyst for a period of colorful and pattern-rich work. While painting I started organizing with color and templates, which I cut from paper.
A new step was the inclusion of the paper residual shapes in the paintings.
A selection of large paintings made from 1995 to 2008.
