Art collective FiL consists of: Flos Pol, Ina Fekken and Lea Laarakker
The three of them defy stereotypes and continue to innovate in their field.
Artist statement Flos Pol (since 2000 autonomous artist)
I paint from a connection with nature. An eternal dance of growth and decay in which structures and patterns find their way onto paper and the canvas. The work is diverse but also like-minded, there is a connection between those different works just like nature. In addition to painting and drawing, I make spatial work and installations. I also find my inspiration by searching and being touched by materials that I use in my work, and also by experimenting and reusing materials. With my work I want to express the beauty of nature and the need to deal consciously and with care with our vulnerable living environment.

Artist Statement EH Fekken
Nowadays I work almost exclusively in the material paper.
Initially, I cut the works in paper by hand, until I discovered a "new" technique. The laser cutting machine,
with which I could make large installations in paper and also small fragile work.
I like to experiment and push the boundaries of the machine and paper types.
New possibilities in execution and expressiveness arise from it.
The inescapable influence that man has on nature/environment is my central motive.

Artist name "Léa"
For more than 30 years I lived and worked in South East Asia and worked closely with the silk growers and weavers on site. These years of experience have given me the love and connection for silk, but also the knowledge of this matter, so that I can fully express myself freely and artistically with this material.
Silk is an idiosyncratic material with unsuspected possibilities again and again and that remains a great voyage of discovery for me.
